On Friday late afternoon I went looking for the cattle egrets south of Pelican Lake reported by Connie Brunell and Leslie Marcus. It was about 4:15-4:45 and the cows/cattle were working their way down from the hilltop where they had been earlier, toward the farm at the east end of the field. The entourage of cattle egrets included 35 or 36 birds (Two counts each of 35 and 36 and one count of 37 so who knows?) It was quite a sight for what I had thought of as a relatively rare bird in MN.
