Westskyline Hawkwatch, Duluth, MN. Flights this week have been steady with a good mix of species being seen wit= h=20 the last of the adult Red-tails, peak Turkey Vulture movement and the=20 beginning of the Sharp-shinned and Broad-winged Hawk flight. Good flight of=20= 412, 609,=20 295 and 1183 on 4/16, 17, 19 and 20. The 18th was a well needed rain day.=20
Notable counts/sightings this week include the following: 171 Turkey Vulture= =20 on the 17th which also saw the season first Broad-wings (2) and 277 Red-tail= s,=20 an immature Red-shouldered on the 16th, 22 Ospreys on the 19th along with th= e=20 season=E2=80=99s first Swainson=E2=80=99s Hawk (2) both adult light morphs,=20= 294 Sharp-shins=20 and a good early flight of 680 Broad-wings on the 20th. =20 Non-raptors sighting this includes: 175 Bohemian Waxwings on the 17th. =20 Sandhill Cranes, White Pelican and Common Loons are being seen most day now,= =20 including a good flight of 24 and 17 White Pelican on the 17th and 19th. Dou= ble=20 crested Cormorant numbers have been building with a good count of 450 on the= 19th=20 which included a flock of 200, also seen on that day were 7 Sandhill Cranes.= =20 There were 37 Common Loon counted today.
