Hi everyone! John Hockema, Josh Watson, Forest Strnad and I ended up having a great = day of birding in Rice County today. Forest and I birded a bit before = meeting up with John and Josh at 10 A.M. Forest birded with us in the = morning. Here were the highlights: All five swallows plus Purple Martin House Wren Marsh Wren Yellow-headed Blackbird Virginia Rail in two locations hundreds of flying Pelicans White-throated, Vesper, Savannah, Field, Chipping, and Swamp Sparrows Mute Swan Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs hundreds of Ruddy Ducks and a Blue-gray Gnatcatcher We missed on Broad-winged Hawk, Brown Thrasher, Horned Grebe, Eastern = Towhee, and Orange-crowned Warbler.
