The season for trapping birds for falconry closed on Dec 30. No = trapping technique I am aware of uses a free flying hawk to lure in = another hawk. A good way to get your valuable, trained bird killed. =20 I have no explanation for the kite other than some people use kites with = food attached to train their bird to gain altitude. =20 I am guessing this falconer was unaware of the gyr. =20 =20 Mark Martell=20 Director of Bird Conservation=20 Audubon Minnesota=20 2357 Ventura Drive #106=20 St. Paul, MN 55125=20 651-739-9332=20 651-731-1330 (FAX)=20 http://mn.audubon.org <http://mn.audubon.org/> =20 To donate to Audubon Minnesota online, visit our secure site at < = http://mn.audubon.org/support_ways.html>=20 -----Original Message----- From: mou-net-ad...@cbs.umn.edu [mailto:mou-net-ad...@cbs.umn.edu]on = Behalf Of jeffbirds Sent: Friday, January 26, 2007 4:09 PM To: mnbird; mou Subject: [mou] Fw: Falconer at 180th Street today =20 Jerry Pruett, Chuck Krulas, John Hockema, and I went looking for the = good birds that have been appearing in the Hastings region today.
