Sunday:
barred owl dozing in the entrance to its nest cavity; in the bottoms
near the mouth of the MN River, about 1/2 m. east of Faribault and
Sibley Houses in Mendota Heights (visible from the inner path that runs
closer to the rr. tracks)

two red-tail (not ROAD-tail today) hawks hunting productively on the
hillsides of Acacia Cemetery in Mendota Heights--fabulous close-up looks
at the action and the birds themselves

also in Acacia, several red-breasted nuthatches

(not bad for a day when family engagements keep birding time short)
