Birded the Auto Tour Route and the Mahnomen trail on Sunday morning = between 9am and 2pm. Birding was rather slow, with a few pockets of = warblers here and there, but low numbers (except for Yellow and Chestnut-si= ded) and very low diversity. There were no shorebirds to be found at = Bergeson pool on Sunday, at least not that could be seen with 10x = binoculars. =20 Highlights as follows: =20 Auto Tour Route *----------------- Grasshopper Sparrow (only 1, which is shocking...their numbers seem much = lower this year than years past in Sherburne) Scarlet Tanager (3, maybe more, calling and being very visible in the = small Oak forest patch near the end of the route) Indigo Bunting Rose Breasted Grosbeaks (males singing everywhere in the Oak forest patch) Warblers: Chestnut-sided, Yellow, American Redstart and Common Yellowthroat= Sandhill Cranes (several calling at various points) Eastern & Western Meadowlarks calling =20 Mahnomen Trail *---------------- Coopers and Broad-winged Hawks Scarlet Tanagers (a couple) Warblers: Chestnut-sided(lots), Yellow(lots), Magnolia, American Redstart = (lots), Ovenbird, Common Yellowthroat (lots), Black and White Sparrows: Harris's, Song, Field, Chipping Eastern Towhee Baltimore Oriole =20 Disappointing how low the warbler diversity is. I've never had to work so = dilligently to pick up warblers before. Was nice to see so many Scarlet = Tanagers though. =20 =20 =20 Chris Fagyal Senior Software Engineer BAE Systems Land & Armaments Fridley, MN=20 (763) 572-5320 christopher.e.fag...@baesystems.com --=__Part7B5E4394.0__= Content-Type: text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Content-Description: HTML <HTML><HEAD> <META http-equiv=3DContent-Type content=3D"text/html; charset=3Diso-8859-1"= > <META content=3D"MSHTML 6.00.2800.1528" name=3DGENERATOR></HEAD> <BODY style=3D"MARGIN: 4px 4px 1px; FONT: 10pt Tahoma"> <DIV>Birded the Auto Tour Route and the Mahnomen trail on Sunday morning = between 9am and 2pm.
