This morning I heard and observed a pair of Cerulean Warblers at Carver Park
along the Aspen Trail. They were located just to the west of a short
boardwalk that crosses a small bay. As you cross the boardwalk heading
west, you will then climb a small hill. They were located in the tops of
the trees on the slope of the hill seen on both sides of the trail. He was
last heard a little farther to the south of the trail. The male was
singing repeatedly. Most of my looks were non-binocular views as they were
consistently moving. I did observe what I assumed to be the male give chase
to the female. My only decent binocular view was of the female. Besides
summer residents the only other migrant was a small group of Wilson's
Warbler and Blue-winged Warblers. I always assumed the Blue-winged were
passing through, but since I have seen and heard them there for the past 4
weeks or so, they may be sticking around. Does anybody know if they nest at
the park?

To get to the park you take either St. Hwy. 5 or St Hwy 7 west from I-494
to Carver Cty Rd. 11. The road to Lowry Nature Center is on the right side
of Carver Cty Rd. 11(heading north). The Aspen Trail and most of the other
trails can be accessed from the nature center. Trail maps are located at
the nature center.
