Hello all, I've just received a second-hand report of a likely Scissor-tailed Flycatcher seen on Sunday morning at the MSUM Science Center near Buffalo River State Park. The bird was described to a colleague of mine (Jerry Fauske) as "rosy underneath and having long tail streamers." When Jerry pointed out the flycatcher in Sibley's Field to the observer, she stated that that was the bird she saw.
The bird was seen flying over the prairie just to the east of the parking area at the science center. To get there: take US 10 east of Glyndon about 1.5 miles west of the junction of MN9. There is a brown sign indicating the turnoff to Buffalo River State Park and the MSUM Science Center. Follow the gravel road east to the science center. Jerry tried for the bird on Monday, but could not relocate it. We will try for it this evening after work if the weather isn't too bad. Good Birding!
