Bob Russell and I found a presumably wild Mute Swan late this afternoon on Lake Hassel just N of Benson in Swift Co. Bob first spotted it across the lake from the public access on the NW side of the lake, which is on Minn Hwy 29 about 7 mi N of Benson. It was swimming/feeding near the NE shore of the lake, and it was also visible through the trees just N of the township hall from the gravel road along the E side of the lake. This was not a park-like setting and no domestic waterfowl were in the area, suggesting this to be a "wild and countable" swan.
Eurasian Collared-Doves were seen today at 2 locations in Stearns Co. One was in the town of Spring Hill, just N of the ballfield; the other was in Belgrade along the RR tracks just N of downtown.
