On August 1st and 2nd I observed a Neotropic Cormorant at the Bolson Slough (aka Bolland's) rookery in southwest Lac Qui Parle County.
This slough is located at the junction of CR12 and CR9 in section 36 of Mehurin Township and is bordered by the Bolson Slough WPA and the Sweetwater WMA. The bird was last seen late Thursday morning flying northwest away from the slough with a small group DC cormorants. The majority of cormorants that nest here usually leave to forage elsewhere and since the Neo is associating with them it could likely return. Also on August 2nd a Lark Bunting was found foraging on a gravel minimum maintenance road in Augusta Twp. From Marietta go 1 mile east on Hwy40 then about 0.8 mile north on 131st Avenue. It was an adult male still in almost full breeding plumage. Bill Unzen Lac Qui Parle County. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
