Just across from the ranger station at the entrance to Ft. Snelling State
Park was a very cooperative shrike. It perched several minutes at the top of
a tall tree on the left side of the road, near the beginning of the footpath
that leads around the lake. Then it proceeded to drop to the ground beside
the metal box directly across from the ranger station, seeming to examine
something on the grasses there. Very quickly, it rose into a low bush behind
the box, then dropped down into the marsh. I did not see it again, after
trying to park the car.
