The parade of shorebirds continues here in Itasca County. Normally, we have a hard time finding shorebirds here but this year our "flooded field on CR 10" continues to produce surprises. It has mostly dried up but I was there this morning about 7:30 and found a Dunlin among the 15 Semi-palmated Plovers. This is a new Itasca County bird for me. Directions are: Itasca CR 10, 4.5 miles south of Hwy 169. The field is just south of the Trout Lake Community Center.
When I arrived home I had another surprise. We have a Red-headed Woodpecker in our yard (a new yard bird, for sure).
