Just as the light began to fail last evening (10/21), a wren flew into our feeders. At first, looking like a Red-breasted Nuthatch on steroids, binoculars revealed an adult Carolina Wren. It moved about the feeder giving us good looks. It made one more appearance ten minutes later where it foraged around our deck in the half light. This morning, in a steady drizzle, there is little feeder activity. We'll post again if it returns.
Interestingly, we heard what must have been this bird briefly singing an abbreviated version of its song in the middle of the afternoon but couldn't spot it. The song was loud enough to be heard over the sound of our lawnmower! -- Dan & Sandy Thimgan -- Thimgans Battle Lake MN Otter Tail County -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
