28 people congregated at Dairy Queen in Onamia, the headed north along the west coast of Mille Lacs Lake. Highlights included:
* Two Red-throated Loons at Garrison (fish pull off); possible third at Hillcrest. * Barrow's Goldeneye (probable) at Wigwam Bay. Many pictures were taken, including close ups - hopefully some will be posted. * Snow Buntings abounded. Common Redpolls flew over. Bonapartes were everywhere. A meadowlark put in an appearance at a gravel pit. * After lunch, a few headed down to Sherburne Refuge, attempting to relocate the Black-backed Woodpeckers reported on Blue Hill Trail last Saturday. Two males were discovered, a third (not gender specific) called - satisfying end to a good day. Thanks to all for coming! Al & Nate Schirmacher Princeton, MN Mille Lacs & Sherburne Counties
