Probably 100 redpolls at the feeder on a daily basis with one or two hoarys
mixed in to catch my attention every so often.? Lots of pine siskens as well.?
They're the ones who will break me on the thistle feed this year.? The
chickadees, downys and hairys are there on a daily basis as well as the red
breasted nuthatches (who come in like fighter pilots) and blue jays.? Next
door, mom has the pine grosebeaks who only watch my feeders?from afar.? WW
crossbills on the road between us on the church road but not noted in my yard
yet. We have a pileated who visits moms, then comes to my house to work on a
deer rib cage which I have on my porch.? My wife has gotten used to it.? No
owls at home yet, however we have had a couple of fly throughs.? One of note
was a large falcon type but I certainly wasn't ready for it to get an I.D. Very
Gyr-like but it appeared to?be buffy colored just above the tail feathers.?
Perhaps Harrier but I don't think so.

Two months before my Costa Rica trip.? I'm very excited.? March 14-29.??6 stops
around the country all by myself.? I've been studying like mad and have even
been able to ID some by ear.? I'm overwhelmed.? Any pointers for the trip would
be much appreciated.
La Selva, Palo Verde,?Arenal, Canyo Negro, Sevagre, Tarcoles + river.? A couple
3 days will be spent at each stop.?

Wah-hee!
