Hello,

To add to Mike's post (by the way, thanks for tracking the owls
reports this year and for everything you did with the Sax-Zim festival
- hopefully I can finally make it next year).

If you use eBird (a project of the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and
Audubon - ebird.org) you can check all the arrival and departures in
Minnesota for any year (or a combination of years). By setting the
date to just 2009, you can see a report that either tells you the
first time or last time a bird has been reported this year.

According to that report:

Great Grey Owl - February 21st in the bog (no exact location given)
Northern Hawk Owl - February 22nd in the bog (no exact location given)

Both sightings were by different eBird users.

FYI: 113 species reported this year already

Thanks,

Derek Bakken
