This sudden cold snap attracted 16 bird species to the feeders at the Visitor's 
Center in Bloomington. 3 highlights included:

-35(!) Brown-headed Cowbirds: I would assume that this is the entire flock that 
overwintered in the area (21 first found on the Bloomington CBC); however I 
believe this is the highest number of them seen at once this season. I believe 
none of these are migrants.

-2 Red-winged Blackbirds: young males, complaining about the weather. They 
probably weren't expecting this temperature...

-1 Merlin: Likely the same individual observed by Linda Whyte earlier in the 
season. Brief view.
