This sudden cold snap attracted 16 bird species to the feeders at the Visitor's Center in Bloomington. 3 highlights included:
-35(!) Brown-headed Cowbirds: I would assume that this is the entire flock that overwintered in the area (21 first found on the Bloomington CBC); however I believe this is the highest number of them seen at once this season. I believe none of these are migrants. -2 Red-winged Blackbirds: young males, complaining about the weather. They probably weren't expecting this temperature... -1 Merlin: Likely the same individual observed by Linda Whyte earlier in the season. Brief view. Looking forward to the upcoming heatwave, Alyssa DeRubeis Golden Valley, MN ---- Join or Leave mou-net:http://lists.umn.edu/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=mou-net Archives:http://lists.umn.edu/archives/mou-net.html
