Early this afternoon there were three White-winged Crossbills in the spruces between the Interpretive Center and the parking lot. I've been seeing a small flock of these birds on campus irregularly for the past few weeks. One of today's birds was an adult female, and another appeared to be an orange-yellow first year male. I was not able to study the third bird long enough to determine age or sex. So far I have not heard any crossbills singing on territory, but if these birds hang around that might change...
