During a birding-by-bike MRVAC field trip late this afternoon, we were fortunate to have great views of a male prothonotary warbler in Ft. Snelling State Park.

We didn't find it in its usual location from previous years, namely the swampy wooded area between the visitor center parking lot and Pike Island. Instead, it turned up in the swampy snag area just south of the Mendota Bridge (also near the visitor center).

It never vocalized while we were there.
