Trying again, the first time seems to have gotten lost. If you get this twice, I apologize. Gail ---------------------------
Thanks, Dan! Another interesting photo. If anyone wants to look again at the photos I posted, here is the link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/gailw/sets/72157622228136858/ Short of a DNA test, there probably is no right answer on this one;-) Some very lively and interesting discussions, though. I thought it was a Bay-breasted Warbler. Today, 24 September, I caught several warblers in my banding net including this Bay-breasted Warbler, which I think is very similar to Gail's bird--about the only difference is that my bird has slightly more chestnut on its flanks. (I thought I could see chestnut on Gail's bird, too.) Fall Bay-breasted are fairly variable in this mark, ranging down to even no chestnut at all. Note the streaked back on both Gail's bird and mine. http://www.northern.edu/tallmand/bbwa55.jpg Other birds banded today include 1 Tennessee Warbler and 4 Chestnut-sided Warblers. Between a very slow fall, our neighbors doing massive landscaping work with heavy machinery, and my having been away for two weeks, these are about the first warblers I've banded this fall. dan -- Dan or Erika Tallman Northfield, Minnesota http://danerika.googlepages.com/home http://picasaweb.google.com/danerika daner...@gmail.com ".... the best shod travel with wet feet" "Beware of all enterprises that require new clothes ...."--Thoreau ---- Join or Leave mou-net:http://lists.umn.edu/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=mou-net Archives:http://lists.umn.edu/archives/mou-net.html ---- Join or Leave mou-net:http://lists.umn.edu/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=mou-net Archives:http://lists.umn.edu/archives/mou-net.html
