Noted two Common Ravens in Kunkel WMA (southern Mille Lacs County) this morning. Also noted one in central Mille Lacs County along 169 last Saturday.

Have only lived in Minnesota for six years, but have observed a southern movement of Common Ravens from northern Mille Lacs County/Crow Wing/Aitkin (say, Kathio State Park area as a southern boundary) into central and southern Mille Lacs County, Sherburne Refuge/Ann Lake/Sand Dunes, and Carlos Avery.

Have others noted this? Are there any studies or systematic observations about this phenomenon? Is it being observed elsewhere? Any thoughts as to whether this is a temporary phenomenon (such as the Tufted Titmice northern movement in the upper Midwest, advancing and declining over the last 40 years), or more permanent?

Thanks!
