Currently, there is a significant spruce budworm occurrence along the 169
corridor between Tower and Ely. It would be interesting to hear reports
from anyone who happens to bird this area, particularly whether numbers of
budworm-dependent warblers like Cape May, Bay-breasted, and Tennessee are
present in higher numbers. The budworm phenology is nearly 2 weeks ahead
of 'schedule'. Could this be detrimental if the budworms are pupating by
the time the warblers are feeding nestlings?
