A quick trip up the North Shore:

Saturday at Paradise Beach (13 miles NE of Grand Marais) - 20 Black Scoters,
2 Surf Scoters, 1 White-winged Scoter, 2 Long-tailed Ducks

Black-backed Woodpeckers - 1 (found by Pam Benson) at Cascade River wayside,
in some downed trees on the lake side, just west of the construction area; 1
found by Lars Benson on the trail from Cascade up to Lookout Mountain.

Western Meadowlark - also at the Cascade River wayside

Yellow-rumped Warbler - in Grand Marais on the west side of the harbor near
the picnic shelter

Sandhill Cranes - 8 over the Grand Marais harbor on Saturday afternoon

At least six Gray Jays at various locations. Several small flocks of
redpolls. One Pine Grosbeak flyby at Magney Park. Two Rough-legged Hawk.
