A very thorough account on Cackling Geese was published in NORTH AMERICAN BIRDS
magazine, put out by the ABA. The article, "Distribution and Identification of
Cackling Goose (Branta hutchinsii) Subspecies", by Steven G. Mlodinow, Paul F.
Springer, Bruce Deuel, Lawrence Semo, Tony Leukering, T. Doug Schonewald,
William Tweit, and Jesse H. Barry, is an incredible resource. There are
numerous photos, range maps, and summaries of pertinent field marks. Apparently
the information here is being used by the USFWS as the definitive reference on
Cackling Goose. This back issue can be ordered from the ABA, and the issue is
Volume 62, number 3, 2008.

In my opinion, this is the best bird magazine on the market. And, you do not
have to be an ABA member to subscribe. Info should be on the ABA website.

Greetings:

Is there any bird book on bird identification that has information about the
Cackling Goose, with identification and picture(s)?
