One arrives at favorite lake, frozen early (shutting down scoters, gulls, unusual ducks and other potential rarities). One drives for two hours (carbon footprint?), hikes for one, only 15 species. One regrets living in central MN during the seven months of winter. Then a flock of Bohemian Waxings calls overhead, and all is forgiven.
