I would like to note that Minnesotans can at least temporarily claim Gopi Sundar (one of the ornithologists quoted in the India birding article and also responsible for the excellent slideshow of Indian birds) as one of their own. He is currently working on his Ph.D. at the Univ. of Minnesota and you may have seen him birding with me and others around the metro area and northern MN over the last several months.
