As a point of clarification as to what the Breeding Bird Atlas is from a previous post to those who may not be familiar.
THE MINNESOTA BREEDING BIRD ATLAS, a citizen-led effort to document breeding bird species across Minnesota, requires funding for the third and fourth year to better target our conservation work. The Legislative Citizen’s Commission on Minnesota resources − LCCMR − has recommended $330,000 for this project. Breeding Bird Atlases are used throughout the world to document and map the distribution of breeding birds. Atlas information is vital to scientists and conservationists, allowing them to focus conservation investments in the most strategic and effective manner. Minnesota is one of only six states that does not have an atlas, impeding state and regional bird conservation efforts. Minnesota's first Breeding Bird Atlas has been funded with a state grant from lottery funds dedicated to environmental projects. More than 600 citizens are donating their time and efforts to the Atlas.
