We were at Como Lake between 1:00 and 2:00. In addition to those, we saw a waterfowl that we had trouble identifying. It was in the center of the lake and we saw only one. It was grebe-like, with a longer neck than a pied-billed so we think it was differnet than what Scott reported. The bill was definitely like the grebes. It seemed to have white on the front on the neck and a slight redness to the head. If others see it, we would appreciate your opinions. Thanks, Rosie Bunge

With the strong south winds there were birds leaving and arriving on an off through the morning, so not all duck species were present at once. The loons seem to be staying put, as is the decent-sized raft of ruddies, scaup, ring-necks and buffleheads. Interesting non-water birds included my first-of-year Tree Swallows, Rough-winged Swallows, and Swamp Sparrows.
