Some highlights from yesterday's birding with Paul Budde, Mark Ochs and Howard Towle. Red Knot - one associating with a flock of 20 Dunlin, Smith Lake. Dull alternate plumage (or molting into alternate?) Ruddy Turnstone - two at flooded field south of Howard Lake on county 6. Nice variety here. Long-tailed Duck - female on Swartout Lake SE of Annandale. Both cuckoo species, with several Black-billed. Many migrating Common Nighthawks.
