Thanks to all of you who answered about past and present Black Tern
sightings at the 180th St. marsh and elsewhere. It seems they were
more prevalent locally in past years than I had realized, and for some
understandable though regrettable reasons, may not be as readily seen
around here as they once were.
They are an elegant little bird, and even had my friend not had his
excellent scope, were delightful to watch in action. I hope they went
away fed, and not too tired, wherever they were bound.
