Has anyone reported any Red-headed Woodpeckers around Rosemount? Today we were on County Road 42 heading south, just after we crossed Highway 3 at the light and by the RR tracks a woodpecker flew across the road right in front of us. It had very obvious large white panels in the wings but I did not see any red, it was very quick and could have been a juvenile. The size was right. There was a lot of traffic so we were unable to stop so it was a very quick look. It flew from the right to the left and went toward a group of scrub trees right there. I don't remember seeing reports of any Red-headed Woodpeckers in Dakota County so was wondering if anyone else has seen any around there.
