Driving through Jay Cooke State Park today I noticed several bald eagles flying
over. I pulled over on a rise near where Hwy 210 joins Jay Cooke Road at 12:25
and over the next thirty minutes counted 52 bald eagles, 6 red-tailed hawks,
and 5 sharp-shinned hawks fly over. Later, while casually watching and walking
along the Munger bike trail I counted another 21 bald eagles, 2 red-tailed,1
sharp-shinned, and 1 rough-legged hawk flying over. All were moving directly
from SW to NE. It turned out to be great birding on a nice warm day in the
northland.
