A western kingbird was seen at westwood Environmental Education Center in St.
Louis Park, Hennepin Co.
It was perched in a tree above the bench just west of the boardwalk that goes
over the water on the north side of the lake. I could see the withe outer tail
feathers, and it appeared to be an adult. I didn’t have a scope, so I can’t be
sure about that, but it was still a brilliant yellow color on the breast. There
were a smattering of warblers, such as wilson’s, black and white, bay breasted,
nashville, oven bird, and juvenile common yellowthroateds.
Westwood is at 8300 W. Franklin Ave. in St. Louis Park, 55426.
One access is on Hwy 394 to Texas Ave. So., turn west on Franklin to the first
stop sign. A half block on Franklin gets you into the nature center.
