Prairie's Edge Wildlife Drive
The Drive is closed to vehicles during the deer-gun hunt.  The gate on CR 5
will be closed and locked on Thursday afternoon November 1 at dusk and will
remain closed through Sunday, November 11.  It will open again on Monday
morning, November 12.  The drive will then remain open until we get a
significant snowfall, as we do not plow the drive in winter.  I will post a
notice on this listserve when we're going to close the drive for the winter.

Blue Hill Trail
The Trail is open all year.  It is NOT open hunting.  In winter, when
sufficient snow is on the ground, it is open for cross-country skiing only.
When snow is not present, it is open for hiking.

Mahnomen Trail
The trail is open all year.  It IS open to hunting.  In winter, this trail is
available for hiking, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing.  Hikers and
snowshoers are asked to be respectful of tracks set by skiiers and walk to the
side of ski tracks.

Most refuge lands are open to walk-in entry from September 1 through February
28.  Bicycles may be used only on refuge roads during this time.  Bicycles are
not permitted on the Blue Hill or Mahnomen Trails.

During the sanctuary period, March 1 through August 31, most of the refuge is
closed to the public.  Only the Drive and two Trails mentioned above are open
to the public.
