Nate & I made the northern swing today; as Mike H said yesterday, spectacular:

* Slaty-backed Gull, seven gull species total (Canal Park)

* Hybrid Common/Barrow's Goldeneye (same, missed pure Barrow's)

* Northern Hawk Owl on Kolu (sp.?) Road

* Great Gray Owls on McDavitt Road and, surprisingly, Highway 200 in Aitkin
County (2 miles from MN 2)

* Boreal Chickadees, Gray Jays, Evening Grosbeak, many Pine Grosbeaks on
Sax-Zim feeders.

* BB Magpies in two locations.

Image/sound bite of the day: Northern Hawk Owl flying directly down road at us
- landing in trees - only to be continually screamed at by pop up Magpie, with
us in between.

Eric Brunke/Laura Erickson sighting in bog as well.

Good birding to all!
