Hi all,

this is especially interesting, in that this winter all of the Red-headed
Woodpeckers (I think the count was over 120) at Cedar Creek Bog in northern
Anoka Co., left the area rather than overwinter, as in most years. The
mast crop (acorns) was poor this year. This bird probably found a local
abundance of acorns, or a good supply of corn, a favorite winter
substitute, or is some dumb kid, who hasn't read his manual yet.
