On Wednesday I took the day off as the week gets busy for Catholic priests from
that point on with the holy Christian days of Holy Thursday, Good Friday and
Easter. I was delighted to see eagles were still out in good numbers. The day
started off slow; only a lone eagle at Colvill Park in Red Wing. I went to
Read's
Landing next and it was also quiet, but I probably should have just stayed
longer. From there it was onto Winona where a search for the black crowned
night heron was fruitless; I did find a couple of junk yard dogs in the area
though who expressed their displeasure at me driving down the road, and a
number of mallards. From there it was back north, and I spent 2 hours at Read's
Landing enjoying the beautiful eagles. They came back in and were abundant;
two juveniles chased each other as one had a fish, and I was treated them
fishing as well. Also present were ring-billed gulls, and two common mergansers
flew across the river while I was there. Hope to make it back end of next week.

Easter and Passover Blessings,
Fr. Paul
