I have received a few private e-mails asking if the Theodore Wirth Park
(Hennepin County) bird is a pure Ross's. The bird is almost certainly a hybrid
Ross's X Snow goose. It doesn't have the typical Ross's profile of rounded head
and short bill. The bigger bill, distinct grinning patch, decurved culmen, dark
nail, and angular head shape all are inconsistent with pure Ross's Goose.
