On Thursday 02-06-2014, while walking to my car

On Thursday 02-06-2014, while walking to my car at 3:40 pm I spotted a pair of
Red-Tailed hawks on the completely frozen Mississippi River.
One bird was on the ice, under East side of the middle span working on freshly
caught prey.
Its mate flew in close by, and perched on one of the light units the illuminate
the bridge from below.
The one bird finished eating in about ten minutes, and much to my surprise left
none for he other.
They both flew to the next light and spent some quality time together before
flying off to the east.

Similar scenario today Monday 02-10-2014, I was late to the party this time.
It was 4:30, pm and one bird was again on the ice, this time under West side of
the middle span working on its prey.
The mate again was on one of the light units the illuminate the bridge from
below.

I did not think these Hawks would be fast enough to take a pigeon.
Then here they were again today.
Unbelievable.
In giving it some more thought, perhaps they were not relying on speed, but
instead using the bright low setting sun to blind the pigeons as they fly in
from the West.
