Last Friday (2/14) at Carpenter Nature Center (CNC) we re-trapped a Black capped Chickadee that was first banded there on 8/28/09 and aged as a hatching year bird. It was re-trapped again at CNC 11/13/09, three times in 2010, two times in 2011 and 2012, three times in 2013 and two times in 2014. All re-traps were in late fall or winter. Most of the chickadees we trap in the winter are re-trapped birds.
