This is the Minnesota Birding Report for Thursday April 17th, 2014.

The LEWIS'S WOODPECKER is still visiting Janet Anderson's feeders in the
town of Roosevelt along Roseau County Road 17 just north of highway 11.

On April 5th, a male EURASIAN WIGEON was discovered at Lake Byllseby in
Dakota County. It has been seen from both the southern boat launch as
well as at the extreme northwest corner of the lake.

In Polk County, Vanessa Lane reported a EURASIAN TREE SPARROW on the
University of Minnesota campus at Crookston. It was feeding with
DARK-EYED JUNCOS and FOX SPARROWS. For details, please email Vanesa

On the 13th, Josh Wallestad reported a MUTE SWAN on a pond along
Renville County Road 20 about a half mile south of county road 11.

A CINNAMON TEAL was reported on the 12th along 340th Avenue at the North
Ottawa impoundment of Grant County.

A flock of 25 LONG-TAILED DUCKS was seen on the 13th at Burlington Bay
in Two Harbors, Lake County.

Recent migrants reported include DOUBLE-CRESTED CORMORANT, GREAT EGRET,
COMMON LOON, PIED-BILLED GREBE, GREATER YELLOWLEGS, LESSER YELLOWLEGS,
PECTORAL SANDPIPER, FRANKLIN'S GULL, YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER, PURPLE
MARTIN, TREE SWALLOW, RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET, HERMIT THRUSH, YELLOW-RUMPED
WARBLER, LE CONTE'S SPARROW, SWAMP SPARROW, and VESPER SPARROW.
