At least one of the Short-eared Owls reported by Bryan was still present at
Carlos Avery WMA last evening (4/21); hunting near Pool 4 at 8:25. Another
flew through my headlights near Pool 2 at 8:40, this could possibly have been
the same bird. They were sticking close to the ground in the windy conditions.
American Woodcock were displaying in several locations.

Subject: [mou-net] Short Eared Owls - Carlos Avery

There were at least two short eared owls putting on a good show of hunting
at Carlos Avery. They could be seen from both sides of the levy that is
gated off during hunting season. Mostly hunting the marsh to the east.
They made a number of passes within 40 feet of where I was sitting.
