Happy Earth Day, all!
While doing some roadside trash pick-up this afternoon, I was rewarded with
my FOY Osprey. It was annoying to see it being harassed by a Bald Eagle,
but there later appeared to be a pair of Osprey on the nesting platform at
Station Island anyway. That totaled up the raptor species count for the day
to four, when added to the sightings of Red-tailed Hawk and American
Kestrel, both over Pickerel Lake. Shortly thereafter, a FOY Belted
Kingfisher appeared in its traditional area at the east end of the
lake---not bad birding for a clean-up detail, especially when accompanied
by cheery song from Yellow-rumped Warblers and Ruby-crowned Kinglets :-)
