Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge
Bloomington Ferry Unit
Bird Walk 
7:00 am - 10:00 am
 
While leading a group at the Bloomington Ferry Unit of the MVNWR.  We 
encountered some interesting species of birds.  We hiked East along the trail 
on the North shore of the Minnesota River, from the parking lot.  There were 
lots of Yellow-rumped Warblers, some Palm & Orange-crowned Warblers.  Here are 
some of the species we observed on the walk.
 
American Bittern - An American Bittern was observed in the marsh, along the 
North side of the trail.
Broad-winged Hawk
Sora - Heard only
Great Horned Owl
Pileated Woodpecker
House Wren
Brown Thrasher
Black-and-white Warbler
Orange-crowned Warbler
Nashville Warbler
Common Yellowthroat
Palm Warbler
Pine Warbler
Yellow-rumped Warbler
Swamp Sparrow
White-throated Sparrow
Yellow-headed Blackbird
Baltimore Oriole
