Good birding today in Washington County with Dave Johnson and Bill Brown between rain showers, total of 84 species. We mostly birded the Oakdale Discovery Center on Hadley, Big Marine Lake, and Lake Elmo Park Preserve. Highlights included 16 species of warblers (magnolia, Blackburnian, Nahville, black-throated green, northern parula, orange-crowned, blackpoll, Wilson's, etc.); pied-billed, horned, and red-necked grebes on Big Marine; Caspian, Forster's, black terns on Big Marine; a calling and flying nighthawk at the Lake Elmo visitors` center.
