The Wood Stork being seen in Faribault County is a juvenile bird, identified as
such by its spiky head feathering and yellowish bill. Adults have featherless
heads, and bills of a darker color. Wood Stork juveniles are known for wide
dispersal from the nesting colony after fledging. Photos of this bird and a
typical adult can be seen on my blog.
