Saw 64 species this weekend, most of them at Forestville-Mystery Cave State Park, Fillmore County. New or recently arrived migrants included the following:
5/2 - Broad-winged Hawk, Northern Rough-winged Swallow, Barn Swallow, House Wren, Winter Wren, Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, Brown Thrasher, Black-and-white Warbler, Eastern Towhee, and Field Sparrow, as well as a Pine Sisken. 5/3 - Yellow-throated Vireo, Warbling Vireo, Wood Thrush, Gray Catbird, Blue-winged Warbler, Yellow Warbler, Ovenbird, 1 unidentified waterthrush along Canfield Creek where Louisiana Waterthrushes are known to occur in spring and summer, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, Baltimore Oriole, as well as at least one Pine Sisken. Also heard House Finch singing both days (this species is not on the state park checklist from 2004).
