I found a very vocal male Prothonotary Warbler at 9:45 AM on a small
island in the central portion of Veterans Memorial Park. The island is on
the south side of the trail that runs from the southern end of the parking
lot off of Portland Avenue and runs east through the central of the park,
between the large marsh to the north and Legion Lake to the south. The
Prothonotary Warbler was singing loudly and examining the dead snags on the
island that has usually had nesting Tree Swallows.

Also present were two Mourning Warblers and many different flycatchers such
as Great-crested, Alder, and Least Flycatchers, Swainson's Thrush, Warbling
and Red-eyed Vireos, Indigo Bunting, and resident Yellow Warblers, Common
Yellow-throats and American Redstarts.

Veterans Memorial Park is found between Portland and 11th Avenues and 66th
Street and Hwy 62 in Richfield.
