I just returned from a quick tour through part of Hubbard and Clearwater
counties. Of interest maybe a single Tundra Swan in Deane Park north of
Park Rapids in company with about 40 Trumpeters. All very tame and swimming
towards visitors as if expecting to be fed. Also we saw a flock of Red
Crossbills in Itasca State Park.
In Bagley in Clearwater county we saw a couple of small flocks of Pine
Grossbeaks. South of Bagely on hwy 92 , just north of county road 35
intersection, we encountered a flock of about 20 Turkeys crossing the road
to feed in someones yard. I was surprised to see Turkeys this far north.
