After another jump on spring migration for me in Tennessee with 105
species(including 26 warbler species), today was my first morning at Rapids
Lake MVNWR since April 17. It took time and a lot of walking, but there was a
good variety/number of migrants this morning. Highlights(with counts) were
Warbling Vireo(1), Brown Creeper(1), House Wren(5), Blue-gray Gnatcatcher(1),
Ruby-crowned Kinglet(2), Northern Waterthrush(2), Blue-winged Warbler(2),
Black-and-white Warbler(1), Prothonotary Warbler(1), Tennessee Warbler(2),
Nashville Warbler(1), American Redstart(1), Blackburnian Warbler(1), Yellow
Warbler(13), Palm Warbler(10), Yellow-rumped Warbler(21), Black-throated Green
Warbler(1), Rose-breasted Grosbeak(5), Indigo Bunting(1), Baltimore Oriole(3),
and Purple Finch(1). Leaf-out is in full swing and is well ahead of the last
couple years so viewing this spring is more difficult.
